General Information for Candidates

the Course Leading to the College

| B. Special
Requiremnets: |
(a)
|
Before a
candidate is registered for the M.Th., course of
studies, he shall have at least one year of
practical experience in, some field of Christian
service after passing the B.D or its equivalent
theological degree. However, in the case of a
candidate who seeks registration to the branch of
Christian Ministry, two years of practical
experience in Ministry shall be required. The
women candidates are exempted from this rule for
the Present. |
(b)

A B.Th
graduate, who upgraded to B.D. should have passed
at least 2 papers in his Branch of specialization
as a part of his/her B.D. course. [See Secn. A(i)
& (ii)] |
| (c) |
For, admission
to the M.Th. course in branches of Christian
Theology and Christian Ethics, courses taken under
B.D. Branches of Theology and Ethics will be taken
into account. |
| (d) |
For admission
to the M.Th. course in missiology, Social
Analysis, Women's studies and Communication,
candidates will be exempted from writing 3 papers
in their field of specialization at B.D. level
until 2005 CE only. |

Instead, the
P.G. Colleges Offering these branches shall be
required to conduct a minimum of 3 months
intensive coaching in each of these branches prior
to the admission of candidates to the M.Th. course
in June each year. |
| (e) |
It is expected
of a student to write a Thesis at B.D. level. The
colleges offering M.Th. who have not written
thesis at B.D. level. |
| (f) |
Specific
additional requirements for admission are given
along with the details for each Branch or
study. |
| C. Language
Requirement: |
|
In addition to
the above, candidates are expected to fulfill the
following requirements for admission to various
branches |
| Old
Testament: |
|
The candidates
should have passed in at least two Hebrew courses
at B.D. level (other than the preliminary course,
at least two in the case of candidates who have
passed at least one advanced course in a classic
Biblical languages) with a minimum of Second Class
average grade [as applicable in section A (i)
& (ii)]. |
| New
Testament: |
|
Specific
additional requirements for admission are given
along with the details for each Branch or
study. |
| Christian
Theology: |
|
A candidate
should have passed on course B.D. level (other
than Preliminary course in Greek, Hebrew, Latin,
Syriac or Sanskrit. |
| Possess
ability to comprehend theological literature in
German or French to be tested by a P.G.
College. |
| Religion: |
| A candidate
should have passed one advanced B.D. level paper
in Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Arabic,
conducted by the Senate. He should also
demonstrate knowledge of the language related to
this research for writing the thesis. |
| History of
Christianity: |
There are no
Biblical or Classical language requirement for
admission. However, a candidate is required to
have working knowledge of the languages necessary
to study the primary resources when writing the
thesis.

| A person who
has not passed the required language papers in the
B.D. course and/or has not secured the minimum
grade prescribed for the language papers required
for admission shall be expected to take a
qualifying examination in the language(s)
concerned under the senate and pass at the level
required. Prior to
admission. |
