Admission Procedure for below mentioned Courses
General Information for Candidates for
the Course Leading to the College Diploma in Theology/
B.D.Degree
 
A. Application for Admission

Application for admission to the B.D/Diploma course must be sent to the Principal, United Theological College, 63(old No.17), Miller's Road, Bangalore-560046 on prescribed forms (available from the Registrar, UTC, at the same address, along with an application fee in order to take the entrance examinations in January. Applications received after the last date, must be accompanied by an additional late fee.

Last date for receiving duly filled Applications:

B.D., M.Th., & D.Th.                :  3rd November, 2008.
Last date with late fee:              : 15th November, 2008.

Last date for:

       Diploma for Proficiency in Counselling  &
       Diploma in Development Studies                : 15th January, 2009.

 The Entrance examination dates are:

B.D.                :  19 th – 21st January, 2009.  
M.Th.              :  22 th – 23rd  January, 2009.
D.Th.              :  27th – 28th  January, 2009.
D.P.C.             :  28 th            January, 2009
D.D.S.             :  29 th            January, 2009

Neither the application fee, nor the late fee is refundable.

B. Qualification for Admission

1. Academic:
a)

Candidates, with a B.A., B.Sc., or B.Com. (Or higher) degree of a recognised University (or equivalent qualification) are qualified for Admission to the course leading in to the B.D. Degree/Diploma in Theology.
b)
Candidates, with- a B.Th. Degree (with second class or above) of Serampore College (or an equivalent qualification), are qualified for admission to the third year to the B.D./Diploma in Theology course, provided they have passed the two B.Th. Senate examined English papers prior to application for admission.
 
They need to have two or three years of practical experience after completion of their B.Th. Degrees.
c)
Candidates who have already finished part of their theological course in another B.D. level institution may be admission to the B.D./ Diploma course (without entrance examination). However each case will be decided on its merits. No student shall be eligible for the College Diploma in Theology unless he/she spent at least one full academic year in residence in the College.
 
Transfer of registration from another College is allowed only ff they complete their Orientation period.
d)
B.D. Programme for Mature Candidates:
 
The College admits to a full B.D. Programme, mature candidates who are at least 25 years of age, but lack the formal academic qualifications, on the basis of the recommendation of the College Faculty following proper screening process, and subject to passing the entrance examination conducted by the Senate of Serampore College.
During the screening process, the applicants are expected:
i)
To satisfy the College Admissions Committee in a personal interview
  ii)
To submit a satisfactory written statement about his/her commitment and his/her motivation for theological study
  iii)
To pass the usual College entrance examination (in English, Christian Faith and General Knowledge)
  iv)
To pass an examination on the basis of one book on Humanities/Science such as those prescribed at the University level and as selected by the Division of Graduate Studies.
