2. Entrance
Examination: |
|
All candidates
for admission (except as otherwise indicated) must
pass the entrance examination, as described
below: |
a)

Dates:

Entrance
examinations are held once a year during the month
of January. |

The
Examinations are normally arranged on Friday, with
the following timetable: |

Information
about exact dates and times can be obtained from
the Registrar. |

Examination Center |
: The examination will be held in
Bangalore at the College. |
| c) |
Subjects |
: The examination will consist of the
following two papers: |

| i) |
Christian
Faith and General knowledge - Time: 3
hours. (written test) This examination will
focus on the two areas Indicated by the title:
Christian Faith and General Knowledge of the
content of the Bible as well as some grasp of
the Church's understanding of Christian faith
and practice. General Knowledge question s may
be drawn fro many areas of life-politics,
sports, music, literature, etc. |

English -
Time: 3 hours (written test) The English
entrance examination will seek to determine an
applicant's capacity for functioning in English
at two levels: |

(a) |
Comprehension of
material written in English an advanced
level; |
| |
(b) |
Clear and logical
expression in written English. Therefore, the
examination will focus on the following three
areas: |

English/Vocabulary |

Candidates should note that a high
standard of proficiency in the English language is
required for study in this college, since the
medium of instruction is English. For those who
are invited to the interview there will be an
Aural/Oral Test conducted at a the time of the
personal interview.(A booklet "Sample Reading in
English for Theology" has been prepared by the
college to help the candidates understand the
level of English required of them, it may be
bought at the Registrar's office for Rs.6/- plus
Rs.2/- for postage.) |

Standard of Pass: |
|
| |
A candidate must secure a grade of C-
(40%) or above in each of the two papers in order
to pass in the entrance examination. Failure in
either of the subjects is deemed as failure in the
entrance examination. If a candidate fails in one
paper and has an average grade of C-or more in
both papers in the aggregate, he/she will be
required to repeat only that one paper in which
he/ she failed. If his/her average is less than
c-, or if he/she fails in both papers, he/she must
repeat both papers if he/she wishes to qualify for
admission. With regard to the examination in
"Christian Faith and General Knowledge', the
candidate must get a minimum of C-separately in
both parts of the examination. |

Re-examination fee is Rs. 100.00 for the
whole examination. No candidate will be permitted
to attempt this examination more than three
times. |

Personal Interview: |
|
| |
Successful candidates in the entrance
examination will normally be required to appear
for a personal interview at the College in order
to assess the candidate's motivation for ministry
and commitment to Christian life. |
| f) |
Remedial English Course: |
|
| |
Based on the interview, the College may
require the candidate to take a Remedial English
course, which will be arranged at the College
during the summer. Failure to attend the Remedial
English course, when required, will render the
candidate ineligible for admission. The course
will also be open to candidates other than those
required to take it. |

3. Financial
Guarantee: |
| |
In order to qualify for admission, a
candidate must give evidence of being able to meet
the cost of fees and other reasonable expenses
connected personal support and course of study.
This evidence may be by a supporting body or other
organization, or by private means adequately
attested. |
